Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. today reported that at about 22:00 JST on Saturday, March 5 (about 17:00 on March 5 local time), the Aframax tanker Guanabara was attacked by pirates in the Indian Ocean about 400 nautical miles east of Oman.
The pirates were brought under control by U.S. and Turkish naval units about 17:20 on March 6 JST (about 12:20 on March 6 local time).
None of the crew was injured and there was no leakage of oil or other petroleum products. The vessel is continuing under its own power toward safe waters.
