Leading fleet management systems provider, BASS won its first contract with a company that is part of a large cluster of tanker managers on the island of Donsö in Sweden, paving the way for possible further contracts in that area.
BASS has agreed to deliver its BASSnet™ Fleet Management Systems software to Rederi AB Veritas Tankers, a Swedish family-based business. Implementation of the software across Veritas Tankers’ fleet and at its shore-based organisation is expected in January.
“This software will help us further improve the safety on our vessels and facilitate the work for the crew,” said Joakim Franzén, Safety and Vetting Manager at Veritas Tankers. “It will also improve verification control ahead of inspections.”
The build-as-you-go, modular-based software streamlines and automates processes across a company’s organisation and fleet, allowing it to focus on business performance. BASSnet will also improve Veritas Tankers’ operational performance, according to Franzén. “If we need additional software for our office and vessels, then additional modules from BASSnet will be considered,” he added.
“We’re very pleased that Veritas Tankers selected us after a thorough evaluation process. It shows that our modules are a perfect fit for the tanker segment, creating added value for shipowners,” said Jaume Mortensen, General Manager for Sales and Channel Marketing at BASS. “We aim to create more business from Donsö and the surrounding regions in the future.”
Some of the modules in the BASSnet suite are dedicated to the tanker segment. The Vetting and TMSA modules help organisations manage their vetting inspections, select the Oil Major who will be carrying out the inspection, carry out initial assessment of the vessel and enter observations carried out by the Oil Major. This ensures that the owner’s vessels meet the requirements of oil majors, saving them time and money.
The small island of Donsö outside of Gothenburg with a population of about 1,500 hosts 12 shipowners, who between them own a total of 47 vessels, mostly chemical and product tankers. In addition, there are eight small supply vessels that operate out of Donsö.
