Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering has won their first $2bn LNG-FPSO order. The Korean shipbuilder and France’s Technip have signed a front-end engineering and design (FEED) contract for one LNG-FPSO with Malaysia’s oil giant Petronas. When the FEED work is completed by the second half of this year, a final contract to build the facility will be inked.
The LNG-FPSO facility with an LNG processing capacity of 1 million tons a year, is expected to cost $2bn in total. Daewoo will build the hull side while Technip is in charge of the topside. Meanwhile, Daewoo is also expected to sign another $2.5bn LNG-FPSO with an annual LNG processing capacity of 3 million tons in Papua New Guniea later this year.
