The Dutch independent engineering company for wind turbines, Lagerwey Wind, received the evaluation report of wind turbine L 82 with 2 MW from GL Renewables Certification.
The evaluation report contains all of the calculations for the successful certification of loads according to the IEC 61400-1, Edition 3. Lagerwey Wind is the second of GL’s customers fulfilling this standard.
Currently GL Renewables Certification is performing the design evaluation, which is the IEC equivalent to the GL Design Assessment. In the case of L 82, the assessment is based on IEC WT 01.
The Lagerwey wind turbine L 82 was erected and commissioned in Grevenbroich, Germany in December 2009. It has been operating without detraction since it started to produce energy in February.
IEC 61400-1 specifies essential design requirements to ensure the engineering integrity of wind turbines. Its purpose is to provide an appropriate level of protection against damage from all hazards during the planned lifetime.
This standard is concerned with all subsystems of wind turbines such as control and protection mechanisms, internal electrical systems, mechanical systems and support structures, and applies to wind turbines of all sizes.
