The Swedish Environmental Court has today been informed that a cargo port have been approved to be built onNorvikudden in Nynäshamn. It means that Ports of Stockholm is allowed to proceed with it´s plans of building the port that will be designed to meet the rapidly growing Stockholm region’s future supply chain.
– The Environmental Court decision is important to Stockholm as the region will continue to grow rapidly in the coming decades. In order to keep its position of being one of the world’s most environmentally friendly cities investments will be required to maintain sustainable infrastructure. The investment on Norvikudden is done to handle the development throughout the 2000s, said StenNordin, Mayor of Stockholm city.
– It is an important milestone in our efforts to build a cargo port in an environmentally sound way to meet future transport needs. The decision means that we now look forward to the Environment Court determines the detailed terms so that we can start building, “says Henry Widerståhl, acting CEO, Ports of Stockholm.
